No matter how comfortable you are with a movement (or anything for that matter) there’s always an opportunity to go back and drill the basics. Return to the mindset of a beginner and run through the steps.
.
I’ve been swinging bells since 2005 and one thing is for sure, I’m not perfect but I’m striving to get better. It’s the pursuit of perfection, not perfection itself, that really matters because that’s where the work comes in. Here’s my checklist.
.
1️⃣Reset the hinge and set up. Comfortable getting hands to bell and move the hips to get the right feel and position.
.
2️⃣Practice the hike. A good hike tees up a strong swing and sets the tone for all the swings to come.
.
3️⃣Start with singles. One full swing and back to the floor with control. Remove volume and fatigue, just get good with one rep at a time.
.
4️⃣Just a couple swings. 3-5 swings and return. Keep the movement crisp, stay aware of how it feels. Next set, find only one thing to try to adjust and practice. Rinse and repeat.
